The current state of tape machines being sold by others on eBay, Reverb etc have been problematic for customers, we service all these machines from sellers that have been promised sellers that its been serviced & restored, and very much overpaying for these machines and having to pay again to have it repaired. There are few experienced & outfitted shops doing this anymore, We’ve been servicing these for 40+ years since they where new. Be wary of “Worked When last Used”, “Lights Up” , “Reels Turn” Excuses… and currently folks are refinishing the front panels, stencil etc, new side panels and the they don’t work or sound properly at all since these are novice sellers to make a fast cash

Andrew is the real deal. He got my vintage 2track tape machine up and running perfectly after multiple other (well-known) technicians couldn't get the job done. He does great work and always has tips for all kinds of analog recording setups. Easy five stars!

Andrew has worked on 3 makes of pro and semi-pro decks for our firm, with outstanding results. He knows what to expect with all models from the golden age of broadcast decks, and has the materials on hand to do efficient, effective, reasonable repairs. Funktional has been able to accommodate our logistical needs in both scheduled maintenance and repairing sudden failures. He'll be the first-call service technician for vAS going forward.

I recently found my dads old Teac deck in storage and wanted to have it restored. There aren't many specialists left in the US that have experience with these decks - lucky to find Andrew located right in Brooklyn. The unit was in pretty bad shape but he got it back to working condition, minimal turnover time for the whole job. I had a few minor issues/questions after the first two months of usage, Andrew let me stop by to take a look. He made some adjustments and fixed a problem I had caused myself, not at all expected of him but really appreciated. Each time I stopped by he was happy to chat and answered a lot of questions I had about the unit and working with tape in general.

Bought a teac a2340 from Andrew a little while ago. He was awesome! I knew very little little about tape going into it and had a million questions and he was gracious and patient enough to answer them and to help me feel more comfortable with the medium. He helped me select the perfect machine to fit my needs while staying within my budget, and got it running excellently. I've been exploring the machine and it's possibilities for a few weeks now and have loved every moment of it. Can't recommend Andrew highly enough!

All about sound! I was lucky to meet very knowledgeable and professional Service from Andrew on behave of Funktional Technologies. Once I brought my PRO level reel to reel machine in, the problems discovered and precede service. When I heard how the unit sounds after revisions were done, it reminded me of how it sounded 30 years ago, and it had a pure analog sound. Unfortunately I didn’t have the best experience with different services provided earlier with the self-claimed “high end technicians” across the country but, when have discovered Funktional Technologies; I figured that it’s the only way to go! This includes very knowledgeable and friendly communication, top notch technicians, service in timely manner, and in all my tape recorders’ (I have fixed about 4 reel-to-reel recorders so far) sound has never been as close/exact as has been manufactured back to the 60’s-70’s. Scheduled next appointment with them……..
